An Uber journey unlike any other

This August, Uber is uncorking something special. Step aboard a vintage bus from East Grinstead Station and journey through the rolling English countryside. Enjoy a wine-paired lunch aboard the elegant Golden Arrow Pullman, followed by a scenic tour and tasting at the picturesque Highweald Wine Estate. Hosted across two summer weekends, this exclusive experience blends the charm of vintage rail travel with award-winning English wines – an unforgettable countryside escape.

Arrive on a Vintage Bus 

After arriving at East Grinstead station, you’ll be taken to Kingscote Station on a delightful vintage bus. 

Golden Arrow Pullman

Passengers will board the Golden Arrow Pullman at Kingscote Station. On the journey, sit back and enjoy delicious English wine, a bespoke dining menu, and entertainment from award-winning string musicians.

Highweald Wine Estate

Following the Golden Arrow experience, passengers will be taken to the award-winning vineyard, Highweald, for a private tasting, tour, and gourmet BBQ with time to unwind and take in the countryside scenery.

Your questions, answered

The £10 ticket per person covers the whole experience, including the vintage bus from East Grinstead Station to Kingscote Station, the Golden Arrow train experience (including lunch and wine pairings), and the wine tasting and gourmet BBQ at Highweald Wine Estate.

The ticket does not include travel to or from East Grinstead Station.

The Golden Arrow Pullman departs from Kingscote Station. Upon arrival at East Grinstead station, you will be taken to Kingscote Station on a vintage bus, meaning you don’t need to organise your own transport to Kingscote (only to and from East Grinstead Station).

You must organise your transport to and from East Grinstead Station in the morning and the evening.

If you’re travelling from London, there are frequent trains from London Victoria. You can book your train journeys via the Uber app.

You must arrive at East Grinstead Station by 11:15 at the latest. You will later be dropped back off at East Grinstead Station at approximately 19:30.

Please note that we cannot wait for any late arrivals, so if you miss the connecting bus, you must make your own way to Kingscote station by 12:15 to board the train.

Yes, there will be wheelchair access, but due to limited space on the train, there is one wheelchair access ticket per day and this is first come first serve.

No, the event is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

No, unfortunately, the smallest number of people able to book the experience is a group of two.

It depends on which ticket you purchase. If you book a table for two, you may be placed on a table for four with two other guests, depending on the availability of tables for two.

However, if you book a table of four for a group of three, you will have a spare seat on your table.

Yes, if you have specific dietary requirements, you must flag this for each passenger when booking your ticket. There will be a page during the booking process where you can select which dietary requirements we need to know about for your meals.

If you have a severe dietary requirement, such as allergies, please let us know on [email protected], and we will ensure all staff looking after you on your journey are aware.

Yes, the dress code is vineyard chic – think countryside elegance meets summer escape.

All food and drink, both onboard the train and at the vineyard, is included in your ticket.

Yes, the train will be moving during the meal, but at a slow pace. If you suffer from severe travel sickness, even on slow-moving trains, this may not be the experience for you.

Absolutely. We will have 0% wine and soft drink options available on the train and at the vineyard.

Tickets for the Grape British Railway are non-refundable. If you purchase a ticket, we are unable to refund your payment.

If you cannot attend but want to give your ticket to someone else, please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected]. Also, let us know if they have any dietary requirements.

If you are late, please let us know by emailing [email protected] as far in advance as possible. We will have a list of names and will check people in as and when they get on the bus at East Grinstead station.

However, if we have not heard from you and you don’t turn up within 15 minutes, we will assume you are not coming.

Please note that this is experience is not suitable for anyone with an airborne nut allergy as there will be dishes served on board that contain nuts.

If you have a nut allergy that isn’t airborne, you will be asked to let us know if you have any dietary requirements when you book your ticket, so please state your nut allergy there and the railway will ensure your menu is nut free.

We have no control over traffic or delays on the journey from the vineyard back to East Grinstead. We strongly advise you book an open return to and from East Grinstead in case of delays to avoid missing connections.
